The company began as a clutch repair and replacement supplier for local service shops in the greater Los Angeles area. During this time, nearby Lions Drag Strip was running at full tilt and racers were searching for a clutch that would simply hold the tremendous amounts of power that they were making. It was at this time that Action began its transition into the aftermarket industry. Gary designed and tested countless clutch setups to find what worked and what didn't. He was a pioneer in developing the early dual diaphragm pressure plates, which are used around the world today.
